WHAT?!?!
Joe Gibbs. Joe Gibbs.
I am at a loss for words. I thought being a Lakers fan during this past season hurt. And it did. But to add to insult to injury, I have endured probably one of the most, dysfunctional, illogical, stupid offseason mockeries in recent memory. Your defense is ranked #2 and basically made it possible for you to win the six measly games you managed to pull off. To reward their efforts, you let the starting middle linebacker go, the starting cornerback go, and with these departures give leverage to a second year safety to start making contract demands.
Meanwhile, you sign no one.
Your offense is ranked 30th. To improve this, you trade one of your starting receivers with a likely probability that you'll be trading the other starter as well and pick up two, not just one, but two second tier receivers in their place. Oh and you sign a 40 + year old offensive lineman to do what????
Draft time comes. Let's bet the future!!! Mediocre draft class in 2005 so let's give up our first round pick for 2006 (which in all likelihood will be a much better class, and our pick will be just as high if not higher given our offseason so far) so we can pick up . . . . . a quarterback.....a quarterback that every team but the Redskins saw as a second rounder at best!.
I have never before considered switching alliances in sports because it's something that I have always been proud of. Undying devotion. But stupidity has a way of crippling a man. Gibbs is looking for 'character'. This isn't the flippin' apprentice.....find players, fill needs, get skills. Nascar is your little pet project, not the flippin' Redskins!!
